Eric Schwab joined Meuser, Yackley & Rowland, P.A. in 2023 and focuses his practice on workers’ compensation law. He brings more than a decade of combined legal and claims experience to his representation of injured workers, including experience litigating workers’ compensation matters before administrative law judges, the Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals, the Minnesota Court of Appeals, and the Minnesota Supreme Court. His notable cases include:
- Ludwig v. Dakota County, (Minn. Supreme Court)
- Goerndt v. Family Health Services (Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals)
- City of Eden Prairie v. Serafin (Minn. Court of Appeals)
Eric’s path to workers’ compensation law began with his own work-related injury. Experiencing the claims and recovery process firsthand gave him an early appreciation for the challenges injured workers face. He later spent nearly six years as a workers’ compensation claims adjuster, evaluating compensability, making benefit determinations, investigating claims, assessing medical evidence, and resolving disputes in high-value workers’ compensation matters. That experience gave Eric a practical understanding of how insurers evaluate claims and make decisions. He now uses this insight to help injured employees navigate the workers’ compensation system.
Eric’s legal career began on the defense side, representing employers and insurers in workers’ compensation proceedings. He later transitioned to representing injured workers and has since devoted his practice to advocating for employees seeking benefits and fair outcomes. His background on both sides of workers’ compensation claims gives him a well-rounded perspective and a strategic advantage when advising clients, preparing cases, and resolving disputes.
Outside of his legal practice, Eric is committed to service, mentorship, and community involvement. He volunteers with the Minnesota Mock Trial Association and has coached high school mock trial teams for many years, including teams at Park High School, Higher Ground Academy, Eden Prairie High School, and Albert Lea High School.
He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. His professional affiliations include the Minnesota Association for Justice, Minnesota State Bar Association, Dakota County Bar Association, and Hennepin County Bar Association, and he has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star.
In his free time, Eric enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and having his heart broken by the Minnesota Vikings.
