Light Duty Job Offers

A common issue we see in workers’ compensation cases involve work restrictions and light duty. Often, when a worker is injured that individual receives work restrictions from their doctor that does not allow them to perform all aspects of their job. Many times an employer will attempt to accommodate these work restrictions by offering a light duty role.

If an injured worker is being offered a light duty role, it’s important that they consider this job offer. If the injured worker denies the job, it is possible to have an effect on their workers’ compensation benefits. An injured worker is not required to accept just any job offer though.  Also, it’s important to keep in mind whether the employee’s work restrictions will be permanent. Typically, an employer will attempt to accommodate an injured worker, but only on a temporary basis.
