Meuser, Yackley and Rowland, P.A. is proud to support the local non-profits, agencies, causes and unions that represent Minnesota’s police officers, firefighters and other first responders. While many fundraisers didn’t take place at all or looked much different in 2020, some went virtual or hosted online auctions, and others got creative and were able to host their event outdoors. Raising money is an important facet for each of these organizations and even though events may not have happened as planned, we were still committed with our support through a variety of ways. With a new season of giving upon us, we look forward to helping our friends raise awareness and funds for their mission.
Over the last 5-10 years, Meuser, Yackley & Rowland as well as Ron & Nancee Meuser have made substantial contributions monetarily and also with their time and resources.
The summer and fall months seem to be busy with various conventions, fundraisers, and more. As we are able to host and attend conferences and other events again, here is a snapshot of what we’ve done over the years and what we’re looking forward to coming up:
Firefighters for Healing
Meuser, Yackley & Rowland has been a supporter of Jake LaFerriere and Firefighters for Healing from the beginning. In 2010, Jake was caught in a backdraft and explosion while fighting a fire. He suffered severe 3rddegree burns and other injuries that eventually ended his career as a Minneapolis firefighter. While recovering in the hospital, Jake met two young boys who were suffering from burn trauma as well. It was their story that gave Jake the hope and strength to continue on and the foresight to think of ways he could use his situation to help others. That is when Firefighters for Healing was born.
Ron Meuser was a founding member of the Board of Directors. The firm was a Diamond Sponsor for the successful Tee it Up for Firefighters for Healing golf tournament last year and will be again August 9th when they return to Bearpath Golf & Country Club for a day of fun, inspiration, and support for injured firefighters and burn survivor families.
At the Tee it Up golf event in 2020, Jake surprised Ron and his wife, Nancee, by presenting them with the first annual Ron Meuser, Jr Golden Touch Award as integral supporters of the organization for 10 years. This award will be given to a volunteer or donor each year in the Meuser’s honor and will recognize the worthy recipient for their dedication, leadership, and generosity.
In addition to sponsoring the golf tournament both years, Firefighters for Healing just broke ground on a $6,000,000 Transitional Healing Center that will include a room dedicated in Ron & Nancee’s name, and the annual Red Tie Gala. The Red Tie Gala kicked off in 2015 and has been a signature event ever since. The Meuser, Yackley & Rowland staff attends each year, and Ron and Nancee have enjoyed inviting dozens of generous donors to be their guests.
Take a moment to watch this video with highlights from the first annual golf event – Ron’s message at the end truly encapsulates who we support and why.
